About the job

Working closely with the Vic Board and the National Education Manager and the Learning and Development Manager, the part time Vic Education Officer will champion SCA strategic goal to "continue to deliver high quality education to members and the public"; manage SCA education program including reviewing member feedback, identify training needs, developing draft Convention program and annual education calendar, and collaborate with the Education Committee.

We seek someone who is comfortable working in a small, close knit team, has the ability to work autonomously, superior written and verbal communication skills and has a genuine "can do" attitude. Our office is based close to local shops and public transport.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline education (or significant and current study towards such a qualification)

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and stakeholder relationship skills

  • Experience working within an education context

  • Ability to work independently and lead a team of volunteers

  • Strong project management, record keeping, excel spreadsheet and training/teaching skills

  • Effective oral communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work within tight timelines and willingness to multitask (essential)

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy and resourcefulness

  • IT excellence with Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, a creative mindset and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Previous experience in an industry representative body is not essential but would be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Source, review and manage feedback from members/ event attendees as it relates to education so that the feedback can be used in meaningful ways.

  • Identify training needs by reviewing feedback and keeping abreast of trends and industry news.

  • Draft the annual education calendar for each financial year to be proposed to the Education Committee for approval or amendment.

  • Draft the annual symposium program to be proposed to the education committee for approval or amendment.

  • Prepare all Education Committee meeting agendas and minutes of meetings.

  • Attend all Education Committee meetings and ensure the Committee is fulfilling the required objectives in accordance with their Terms of Reference.

  • Write "Session Summary" for all education events that clearly outlines the objectives, speakers to be engaged, speaker briefs, and the draft event promotion text.

  • Brief speakers on the objectives of their presentation.

  • Advise Event Officer of any event requirements needed to meet education objectives for a particular event

  • Attend all education events to critique content

  • May be required to facilitate education events from time to time

  • Prepare, manage and monitor relevant government funding applications and programs in relation to education
