Join us for the SCA (ACT) 2026 CHU Conference on Tuesday 16 June 2026.
The strata sector is entering a period of fundamental change, not just in how work is done, but in what is being delivered.
This Conference explores a critical shift for the profession. While innovation, automation and emerging technologies continue to reshape day-to-day operations, they are no longer the headline story. They are just the enablers.
The real opportunity lies in redefining the service offering itself to meet evolving client expectations, regulatory pressures, and increasingly complex building environments. Across the program, we examine how this shift is already playing out:
-
Expanding into new service areas such as supporting with major works delivery
-
Moving from administrative functions to value-based management
-
Rethinking business models and leveraging technology to support professional expertise
-
Building resilient teams capable of delivering higher-value services in a demanding environment
This is not about incremental improvement. It is about repositioning the role of the strata manager and shaping a service offering that is fit for the future.
Delegates will leave with a clearer understanding of where the sector is heading and what it will take to remain relevant, competitive, and trusted in the years ahead.

Decarbonisation of Multi-Unit Developments
Presenters: Dr Wendy Russell - The Australian National University, Andrew McMeekin - Active Utilities & Tim Kurniadi - Paynter Dixon
Decarbonisation is rapidly becoming a core expectation across the built environment, with significant implications for strata communities. This session explores the practical realities of transitioning multi-unit developments, including regulatory considerations, infrastructure requirements, and the complexities of delivering major capital works. It will highlight how strata managers can support owners through increasingly technical, high-value projects, moving from coordination to informed leadership in sustainability and asset transition.

Automation in Everyday Strata Work
Automation is no longer a future concept. It is already transforming how strata work is delivered. This session focuses on practical, real-world applications of automation and AI, demonstrating how routine administrative tasks can be streamlined to improve efficiency and reduce workload. Importantly, it will reframe technology as an enabler of higher-value services, allowing strata managers to redirect time and expertise toward strategic advice, client relationships, and complex problem-solving.
12:40pm - 1:10pm
Reinventing the Business Model
As the sector transitions away from traditional insurance commission structures, strata managers are being challenged to rethink both how they are remunerated and how they articulate their value. Focusing on the transition journey, this will equip strata managers with the tools and confidence to communicate these changes clearly to owners, positioning transparency not as a loss but as a strengthening of trust and professionalism.

Wellness in a Digital World
As new digital systems and technologies are introduced, the pace and complexity of work can shift rapidly, placing increased pressure on teams navigating change. This session focuses on supporting the wellbeing of all team members during periods of digital transformation, recognising that successful implementation is as much about people as it is about systems. Attendees will gain insights into how to introduce new technologies in a way that supports wellbeing, strengthens team capability, and ensures sustainable performance during and beyond the change process.
2:50pm - 3:30pm
PANEL: Ask the Experts
This interactive session is your opportunity to ask the questions you’ve always wanted answered. No question is too simple, too complex, or too “silly.” Bringing together a panel of experienced sector professionals, this session creates an open and honest forum. Whether it’s navigating change, managing clients, understanding new requirements, or tackling tricky situations, panellists will share candid insights and practical advice drawn from real-world experience. This is a chance to learn directly from those who have been there before providing clarity, confidence, and perspective to support you in your role.
