How To Deal With Difficult People

Sponsored by

Dr Marny Lishman

We might have a client group that gets to us way too much, or maybe it's certain interactions with specific people in our life that cause ongoing distress. No one likes dealing with a difficult person. We might have a client or work with one, or our best friend might be married to one, or we might even be related to one. It’s a delicate art but dealing with problematic personalities is something you can learn.

This presentation educates the types of difficult people we generally encounter and the effects they have on us. Learn powerful communication strategies that all staff can use in personal and professional lives to remain cool, calm, confident, and collected in interactions with difficult people.

'Think Again!' Time To Think Differently About Tough Strata Challenges

Chris Irons

It is all too easy to rely upon the standard ways of dealing with challenging strata people and situations. Can we start thinking differently and getting a new perspective on how to handle strata challenges, reduce the pressure and make strata less demanding for all? Find out from former Body Corporate Commissioner Chris Irons, as he applies his one-of-a-kind insight and years of expertise to new ways of strata thinking.

Stinking Thinking Versus Resilient Thinking

Chris O'Connor

In this session, we explore the concept of Stinking Thinking and the impact this has on our mental health and resilience. We explore the idea that it is not a trigger (situation, person or event) in itself that causes a stress response, but also how we interpret the trigger. Our emotional reactions depend on the stories we tell ourselves, that is to say, our self-talk. Our self-talk can be positive, neutral or negative. Simply put, self-talk that causes stress is stinking thinking.
